Joseph (Joe) Milne


1857 - 1911

Artist. Born in Edinburgh, Milne was for noted landscapes, riverscapes and seascapes, usually boldly painted in oil, with strong colours, although he also produced watercolours. He worked for a time in Dundee, Perth and also in Ayrshire. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Glasgow Institute and th Royal Academy in London. His works are held by public galleries including the Royal Scottish Academy, South Ayrshire Museums and Galleries at Rozelle House and the Crail Museum and Heritage Centre. Milne died in Edinburgh. His son was another artist John Maclauchlan Milne (1886 - 1957).
