(Rajinder) Tony Singh Kusbia


1971 -

Celebrity chef. Born and raised in Leith, the son of a lorry-driver, Singh was educated at Lorne Street Primary and Leith Academy. He trained at Telford College in Edinburgh. He has worked in some of the country's top hotels including the Balmoral Hotel, Greywalls Hotel, the Royal Yacht Britannia and Skibo Castle before opening his own restaurant, Oloroso, in 2001. Subsequently, Singh has been involved in various ventures in Edinburgh and Glasgow. He went on to appear on radio and television, including The Incredible Spice Men (2013) and A Cook Abroad (2015), both for BBC television. He is noted for an eclectic range of fusion foods, including haggis pakora. He has also represented the German supermarket chain Lidl in Scotland and is noted for his charity work. Singh was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List of 2017.
