Kenneth Mackenzie Clark


1868 - 1932

Thread manufacturer. Born into an industrial dynasty in Paisley (Renfrewshire) which was founded by his great grandfather James Clark (1747 - 1829), Clark joined the family firm of J. & J. Clark. A wealthy man, he bought the Sudbourne Hall estate in Suffolk, which was said to be the biggest shooting estate in England. In 1919, he bought the 75,000-acre Ardnamurchan estate.

He died in Bournemouth (England). His son was the academic historian and broadcaster, Lord Clark (1903-83) and his grandson the Conservative politician and diarist Alan Clark (1928-99).
