James Ballantine

1878 - 1940

Stained glass artist. The grandson of another James Ballantine (1806-77) who began making stained glass in the 1830s. He joined the family firm in 1905, which was then named A. Ballantine & Son after his father.

Ballantine was tragically killed after falling from a moving train in the Calton Tunnel when returning from Edinburgh to his home in North Berwick.
