Daniel Kerr


1836 - 1916

American politician. Born in Dalry (North Ayrshire), Kerr came to the USA in 1841. He served the Union army in the 1860s, then was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives (1868-70). He then moved to the town of Grundy Center in Iowa, where he was successful in business and became its Mayor in 1877. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1883, to the US Congress in 1887 as a Republican, serving until 1891. He died in Grundy Center.
