Roland Mitton


1946 -

Stained glass artist. Born in Dunfermline (Fife), Mitton trained at Edinburgh College of Art and then worked under Mary Isobel Wood in Edinburgh. He established his own studio in 1969, which specialises in stained and painted leaded glass for churches, public buildings and private houses. His work features natural forms and figurative themes, with subject matter inspired by the Parables and seasons, and includes the Children's memorial window in Dunblane Cathedral, which commemorated the Dunblane Massacre of 1996, two windows in the ancient St. Moluag's Cathedral on Lismore, the Four Seasons window in Abernyte Church and the Alexandria Parish Church triptych (2015).
