Royal Air Force pilot. Born in Broughty Ferry, Malcolm was educated at Craigflower Preparatory School, near Dunfermline, then Glenalmond College. and the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell. He began operational flying in 1938. During the Second World War he rose to become a bomber squadron leader, moving with them to North Africa in 1942 where he became Wing Commander. Malcolm died in action in a bombing mission against a German airfield in Tunisia, during which his entire squadron was shot down. Malcolm was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross for his bravery.
RAF welfare clubs were named Malcolm Clubs in his honour. The first opened in Algiers in 1943 and they continued in the UK and at RAF stations overseas until the 1970s.
