Hamilton (Hammy) McMillan


1992 -

Curling champion. McMillan was born in Stranraer, the son of another Hammy McMillan who was also a successful curler and hotelier. The family's North West Castle Hotel in unique in having a curling rink, so the sport was inevitable for the young McMillan. He was educated at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, where he won the schools curling championship in 2010 with a team including his cousin Grant Hardie (b. 1992). McMillan joined a team skipped by Bruce Mouat (b. 1994) alongside Hardie, Bobby Lammie (b. 1997) and Ross Whyte (b. 1998) which took gold medals at the European Curling Championships in Tallin (2018) and Lillehammer (2021). This team also took silver medals at the World Men's Curling Championship (Calgary, 2021) and at the Beijing Winter Olympics (2022).

McMillan now lives in Glasgow and works as a Curling Development Officer for Active Stirling.
