Hamilton (Hammy) McMillan


1963 -

International curler. Born in Stranraer (Dumfries and Galloway), McMillan began competitive curling playing with Tom Brewster (b. 1974) before going on to win a bronze medal (1997), two silver medals (1986 and 1992) and a gold medal (1999) at the World Curling Championships. His team also gained a remarkable succession of five gold medals at the European Curling Championships (1989, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1999). McMillan owns a small hotel chain in SW Scotland, including the North West Castle Hotel and Cally Palace Hotel, while his son, also Hammy McMillan (b. 1992), is also a successful curler.
