Rock singer. Born in Kirriemuir into a musical family. Scott's father played in the local Pipe Band and was active in an operetta company. The family emigrated for Australia in 1952, settling eventually in Fremantle. A life-long rebel, he left school as soon as possible and took on a series of odd jobs. He was involved with various rock bands, having some success with The Valentines before joining the Young brothers' band AC/DC in 1974 initially as drummer and later vocalist.
Scott had a strong influence on the band and was involved in albums such as High Voltage (1975), Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (1976), Let there be Rock (1977), Powerage (1978) and Highway to Hell (1979).
Scott died in London following a bout of excessive drinking and is buried in Fremantle.
