Blackshaw Farm

North Ayrshire

A farm and small estate centred 1½ miles (2.5 km) northeast of West Kilbride in North Ayrshire. Until 2000, the estate operated as a successful farm park welcoming up to 50,000 visitors per year. The farm house and its policies were divided from the bulk of the farmland in 2018 when they were sold separately. The farm house has been developed while the remainder comprises 25.5 ha (63 acres) of grassland and 89 ha (210 acres) of commercial woodland, planted 2000-04, which spreads over the lower slopes of Blackshaw Hill. Blackshaw Quarry once provided building stone, while a cup-and-ring-marked rock is one of the best preserved in South West Scotland and is now a scheduled ancient monument.
