The village of Auchengray is located near the northeastern border of South Lanarkshire Council Area, 5 miles (8 km) north of Carnwath and 6 miles (10 km) southwest of West Calder. The village was one of the stops for the Caledonian Railway on its route from Carlisle to Edinburgh.
