Keltneyburn

Perth and Kinross

A hamlet at the eastern end of Glen Lyon, Perth and Kinross, Keltneyburn lies near the junction of the Keltney Burn with the River Lyon, 7 miles (11 km) west of Aberfeldy. It comprises a picturesque group of cottages and former mills, with a village hall built c.1895 as a reading room by shipping magnate Sir Donald Currie, owner of the estate. The settlement is dominated by a statue of military and Highland historian Major-General David Stewart of Garth (1772 - 1885) built in 1925. Close by is the Coshieville Hotel which housed the officers of General Wade's military road making force in the 1720s.
