Overtown

North Lanarkshire

A village of Clydesdale in North Lanarkshire, Overtown lies to the west of the River Clyde and a mile (1.5 km) south of Wishaw. It developed in the 19th century as a mining village with railways serving nearby collieries. Its population declined after the closure of the mines and the railway in the early 1950s. The West Coast Main Line still passes to the northeast.
