Gartness

North Lanarkshire

A small village on the edge of Airdrie, 1½ miles (2.5 km) southeast of the town centre, Gartness lies to the east of the North Calder Water, a mile (1.5 km) north of Chapelhall. Once highly industrialised, this was a centre of iron-working during the 18th and 19th centuries.
