Perceton

North Ayrshire

Perceton is an eastern suburb of the new town of Irvine in North Ayrshire. Perceton was an ancient parish and the ruins of a pre-Reformation church remain. The former Free Church dates from 1843 and is now an evangelical Christian centre. Perceton House dates from 1764 and was extended in 1971 to become the headquarters of the Irvine Development Corporation (IDC). Coal was mined here and, to the southeast, Perceton Row was built for colliers in the mid-19th C. and saved from demolition by the IDC.
