Benrig

Scottish Borders

A scattered settlement in the Scottish Borders, Benrig is situated on the right bank of the River Tweed, a half-mile (0.8 km) northwest of Maxton and a similar distance southeast of St. Boswells. The remains of the former St. Boswells Parish Church are located here. This church was built in 1652, next to a Mediaeval church, but was abandoned in 1940, when St. Modan's Church in St. Boswells took on this role, and demolished in 1951. A churchyard remains.
