A location with a hill-farm on the Orkney Mainland, Garth lies just to the southwest of Kirkwall Airport, 2½ miles (4 km) southeast of the town of Kirkwall. The poet Edwin Muir (1887 - 1959) spent some of his youth on the farm here.
