A small crofting settlement on the E coast of Caithness, Forse lies 1¼ miles (2 km) east northeast of Latheron. A line of crofts and the ruins of the 13th-century Forse Castle are located to the south of the A99 Trunk Road, while the 18th-century Forse House, Newlands of Forse and the Moss of Forse lie to the north. Original croft-houses have been restored or replaced with modern homes. North Shore Pottery is situated at the old Mill of Forse, on the Burn of Forse. Forse should not be confused with Forss, located 25 miles (40 km) to the north northwest.
