Kirkliston

City of Edinburgh

A dormitory settlement of the City of Edinburgh Council Area, Kirkliston lies to the west of Edinburgh on the River Almond, 3 miles (5 km) south of South Queensferry. Created a burgh of barony in 1621, the village developed in association with the manufacture of textiles, quarrying and distilling. The Drambuie liqueur was blended and bottled at a plant here between 1969 and 1981, before moving to nearby Broxburn.
