Amisfield School

A hamlet of Dumfries and Galloway, Amisfield (Amisfield Town) lies on the Amisfield Burn, 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Dumfries. To the northwest is Amisfield Tower, a former stronghold of the Charteris family. The settlement benefits from a primary school, with a roll of 27 (2014). Amisfield once had a station on the Dumfries, Lochmaben and Lockerbie Railway, which opened on 1st September 1863, closed to passengers on 19th May 1952 and finally to goods on 18th April 1966.
