Kilmacolm

A village on the Gryfe Water in the old county of Renfrewshire, Kilmacolm is located 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Greenock and was created in the 7th or 8th century AD. Strath Gryfe provides exceptional scenery for this holiday resort with a hydropathic. A railway line was established in 1869 and several fine houses were erected including 'Windyhill' designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The rail line closed in the 1980s but it remains a popular commuter town. There is an 18-hole golf course.
