Kevock

An affluent community in Midlothian, Kevock is situated on the north bank of the River North Esk, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southwest of Lasswade. There was a mill here in the 18th C. and by 1850 this had become a substantial concern producing paper. The mill was serviced by the Esk Valley Railway, which opened in 1867 but closed in 1964. Kevock now comprises substantial Victorian villas with large gardens, together with a pair of later 20th C. architect-designed houses, a riding centre and care home for the elderly.
