Kennacraig

Argyll and Bute

A location on the southeast coast of West Loch Tarbert at the northern end of the Kintyre peninsula, Kennacraig lies 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Tarbert. A causeway leads to the small island of Eilean Ceann na Creige, where the ferry terminal for the Islay ferry is located. This was developed by Western Ferries in 1968 but taken over by Caledonian MacBrayne in 1978 as a deeper water alternative to their old terminal in West Loch Tarbert, allowing the operation of bigger ships.
