A small village in the Garioch district of mid-Aberdeenshire, Oyne lies in a parish of the same name, 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Inverurie and 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Aberdeen. Kirkton of Oyne and the reconstructed Harthill Castle lie a mile (1.5 km) to the east. The historian John Leslie (1526-96), who was later Bishop of Ross, became a parson here in 1559.

Oyne was home to the 16 ha (40 acre) Archaeolink Prehistory Park, a tourist attraction which interpreted the archaeological remains of NE Scotland and includes historical re-enactments. It closed in 2011.
