Old Rayne

Aberdeenshire

A village in the Garioch district of Aberdeenshire, Old Rayne lies on the River Urie, to the east of the A 96 road from Aberdeen to Huntly. Once a burgh of barony, the village has a 17th-century market cross and was the scene of the Lawrence Fair. The bishops of Aberdeen who owned the parish of Rayne once had a residence here. Today, Old Rayne has timber industries.
