Angus

A small hamlet in the Braes of Angus, Cortachy lies on the River South Esk, 4 miles (6 km) north of Kirriemuir. Cortachy Castle has been the seat of the Ogilvy earls of Airlie since 1473 and the church at Cortachy was rebuilt in 1828. To the northwest on Tulloch Hill is the Airlie Monument, a copy of one of the towers of Airlie Castle erected in memory of David Ogilvy, 9th Earl of Airlie, who was killed in the Boer War. Cortachy benefits from a primary school.
