A location in Glen Isla, Angus, Forter lies to the west of the River Isla, 4 miles (6 km) northwest of Kirkton of Isla. Forter comprises the small settlement of Meikle Forter and Little Forter to the northeast. Close by is the restored Forter Castle, an L-plan tower house dating from the 16th century. The Glen Isla Games are held in a field to the south of here each August.
