Ludac

(Ludaig, Ludag)
Western Isles

A location with a jetty on the south coast of the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Ludac (sometimes Ludaig, Gael: Ludag) lies adjacent to Taobh a' Chaolais, 3½ miles (5.5 km) south of Lochboisdale. This was once the terminus for a local authority-run car ferry for the island of Eriskay to the south, replaced by a causeway which opened in 2002 and makes landfall a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the east on the opposite side of Saltavik Bay. For many years the jetty also serviced a passenger ferry connecting with Eoligarry on Barra.
