Glasgow City

A small neighbourhood between Hillhead and Woodside in the West End of Glasgow, Kelvinbridge lies around the bridge which carries Great Western Road over the River Kelvin. Located next to Kelvingrove Park, the area is noted for its independent shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a station on the Glasgow Underground, while Glasgow Academy is located here, on the right bank of the river. The area is popular with students with the Gilmorehill campus of the University of Glasgow situated just a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the southwest.

Kelvinbridge Parish Church (formed from the uniting of several local congregations) occupies the premises of the Kelvin Stevenson Memorial Church, built in 1902 to the designs of John James Stevenson (1831 - 1908). Nearby is St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, dating from 1871 and the work of Sir George Gilbert Scott (1811-78).
