A hamlet in the Garioch district of central Aberdeenshire, Durno is located 1¼ miles (2 km) north of Whiteford and 5½ miles (9 km) northwest of Inverurie. There is a substantial Roman marching camp located a mile (1.5 km) to the southwest and it is suggested that the great battle of Mons Grampius may have been fought nearby.
