A location in the Formartine district of Central Aberdeenshire, Esslemont lies around Esslemont House, 2 miles (3 km) west of Ellon. As well as the house, the location includes the Castle of Esslemont and farms at Littlemill of Esslemont, Hillhead of Esslemont and Mains of Esslemont. Esslemont Primary School, located close to the latter, closed in 1997.
