A small settlement in East Dunbartonshire, Campsie (also Clachan of Campsie) lies on the Aldessan (or Kirk) Burn, a tributary of the Glazert Water, a half-mile (1 km) northwest of Lennoxtown. The remains of St. Machan's Church are to be found here, along with the site of a former bleach works. To the north of the village lies the Campsie Glen and Jamie Wright's Well on the southern slopes of the Campsie Fells, beyond which lie the broad farmlands of the Carse of Stirling.
