Scottish Borders

A settlement and estate in the Scottish Borders, Philiphaugh lies to the north of the confluence of the Yarrow and Ettrick waters, 2 miles (3 km) west of Selkirk. The mansion here was demolished c.1967. To the east is the site of the Battle of Philiphaugh, scene of the defeat of James Graham, the Marquis of Montrose, by the Covenanting General David Leslie on 13th September 1645.
