A settlement which now comprises a pair of seasonally-inhabited cottages amongst the ruins of a much larger village which was cleared for sheep in the 1840s, Bailenacille (also Baile-na-Cille or Kirktown) is located behind a dune system on the south coast of the Outer Hebridean island of Pabbay, 8 miles (13 km) west of Leverburgh on South Harris. The ruins of two ancient churches can be found here, Teampull Mhòire (St. Mary's Chapel), which seem to have fallen from use in the late 18th century, and Teampull Moluog (St. Moluag's Chapel or Teampull Beag) which was probably earlier. These ruins are surrounded by a graveyard which continued in use until the mid-19th century.
