A crofting township on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Borrowston (Gael: Borghastan) lies on the north shore of Loch Carloway, a half-mile (1 km) west of Carloway. Ben Borrowston rises to 85m (278 feet) immediately to the west.
