Steimreway

(Stiomrabhagh)
Western Isles

An abandoned crofting township on the E coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Steimreway (Gael: Stiomrabhagh) lies on an inlet (Tob Stiomrabhagh) on the north shore of Loch Shell, 1¼ miles (2 km) west of Orinsay. Inaccessible by road, the residents were removed to Limervoy in 1857 to permit the grazing of sheep.
