Craigston

(Balnacraig, Baile na Creige)
Western Isles

A small crofting township on the west coast of the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, Craigston (Gael: Baile na Creige) lies in front of Ben Martin, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) north of Borve and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) north of Castlebay. There is a primary school here, together with St. Brendan's Roman Catholic Church, which dates from 1858. The settlement is occasionally known as Balnacraig and recorded as same on older editions of Ordnance Survey maps.
