A location in Renfrewshire, Fulwood lies to the north of the River Gryfe, 2¼ miles (3.5 km) east of Houston and 2½ miles (4 km) north of Johnstone. There are farms at Wester Fulwood, Fulwood Mains and, on the opposite side of the M8 motorway, East Fulwood. Fulwood Wood and Fulwood Moss lie to the north, next to Barochan Moss, with the moss now partially enclosed within the secure perimeter of the former Royal Ordnance Factory Bishopton. Fulwood Moss was reclaimed by the Glasgow Corporation in 1880 at a cost of £4539. It was filled with 12,000 tons of Glasgow's rubbish and formed into good agricultural land.
