A greyhound stadium in NE Rutherglen (South Lanarkshire), Shawfield Stadium lies on Rutherglen Road, opposite Richmond Park on the south bank of the River Clyde. The track is 432m (472 yards) in length and racing takes place four evenings per week.
The stadium began as a football ground and was home to Clyde Football Club between 1898 and 1986. To raise additional revenue they allowed the stadium to be used for dog racing from 1932. It was also used by the Glasgow Tigers motorcycle speedway racing team between 1988 and 1999.
Only a grandstand on the west side of the stadium is now used for spectators; the football-era terraces remain, although have fallen into disrepair.
