Braeriach

(Am Braigh Riabhach)

Rising to a height of 1296m (4252 feet) Braeriach is the second highest peak in the Cairngorms and the third highest in Britain, qualifying as a Munro. Located west of Lairig Ghru and Glen Dee on the border of Highland Council Area and Aberdeenshire, Braeriach offers fine views towards Aviemore. It has a crescent shaped peak created by three symmetrical northern corries which have red granite cliffs just below the summit. Its name is derived from the Gaelic (Am Braigh Riabhach) for "the brindled upland".
