Rising as a runoff stream from Loch Heilen in the Caithness district of Highland Council Area, the Burn of Alyth flows in a southeasterly direction for 8 miles (13 km), passing through the Loch of Wester, and emptying into Sinclair's Bay to the east of Quoy's of Reiss.
