Traigh Ghruineart

(TrĂ igh Ghruineart)

Gruinart Strand (or Traigh Ghruineart) is an area of flat-lying sand at the head of Loch Gruinart in the NW of the island of Islay, Argyll and Bute. The Battle of Gruinart Strand took place nearby in 1598 and the Lachlan Mor MacLean Monument commemorates the place where the leader of one of the forces fell.
