An ancient division founded before the 9th C. the Diocese of Dunkeld was re-established in 1878, when the Roman Catholic church was restored in Scotland. The Diocese includes 38 parishes and extends from the east coast of Angus, through North and West Fife, Perth and Kinross, Clackmannanshire and into Stirling, including Arbroath, Callander, Dunblane, Dundee and Perth. With an estimated population of 45,000 adherents, its cathedral is the 19th C. Gothic St. Andrew's in Dundee and the diocean offices are also based in the city.
