Prestwick International Airport Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Port-adhair Ghlaschu Phreastabhaig) lies on the Ayrshire Coast Line and the Glasgow South Western Line, ¾ mile (1.2 km) north of Prestwick and a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Monkton in South Ayrshire. Uniquely in Scotland, the station is owned and operated by the airport. It opened in 1994 and is directly connected to the airport terminal by means of an overpass which crosses the A79 road.
Prestwick International Airport Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by 117,870 passengers in 2016-17, a remarkable reduction from 532,288 per annum in 2009-10. This due to the reduced number of airlines flying from Prestwick.
The station is preceded by Prestwick Town, a half-mile (1 km) to the south, and followed by Troon, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) to the north northwest.
