Connie Ramsay


1988 -

Judo champion. Born in Inverness, but raised in Tain, Ramsay began with judo at a young age. She was educated at Tain Royal Academy. She won the Scottish Open Championship, the British Championship in 2012, the Pan American Open in Buenos Aires in 2013 and seven World Cup medals. She captaining the Ladies British Team at the European Team Championships in Montpellier in France in 2014 and then won a Bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later the same year. Having found judo was not included as an event for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, she changed her sport to boxing. She boxes at the Springhill Boxing Club in Shotts (North Lanarkshire), where she trains with her friend and mentor Alex Arthur (b. 1978). She now lives in Fauldhouse (West Lothian).
