A village in Perth and Kinross 4 miles (6 km) South-East of Alyth, just south of the River Isla in the Valley of Strathmore. A collection of Pictish stones and cross-slabs, which were found in the vicinity, are now housed in the Meigle Museum. Belmont Castle, previously owned by the British Prime Minister Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman (1836 -1908), is now run by the Church of Scotland as a retirement home. Campbell-Bannerman is buried in Meigle Parish Kirkyard.
