Burnwynd

West Lothian

A small settlement on the border between the City of Edinburgh and West Lothian, Burnwynd lies a half-mile (1 km) east of Wilkieston and 1½ miles (2.5 km) northeast of Kirknewton. There was once an inn and a smithy here. Hatton House lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the northwest, on the site of a fine house built in the 1670s by the Duke of Lauderdale. This was demolished in 1955 after a fire a few years before.
